Iteration Zero is an optional Agile planning period. It could be performed at team or release startup. Usually it is performed when a minimal mandatory infrastructure is required to support the execution of subsequent functional iterations, or to clarify functional and technical architectural issues that must be resolved before proceeding to the development of business functionality. The content of Iteration Zero will vary depending on the nature of infrastructure to be created and the clarifications, issues or problems to be resolved.
The Iteration Zero Backlog provides a tool for Scrum Masters to ensure all tasks are completed and the team is ready to begin work and delivering product in iteration one. It includes example of stories and acceptance criteria. The team may have other items to include in the backlog for their specific team or effort.
It is available to members who can access either Macroscope 5 or Macroscope/360.
